Lightweight Alloy Wheel Study

Industry reference study

An automotive reference study balancing material reduction, stiffness and manufacturability.

This independently written study discusses a public industry example. It does not claim a commercial relationship, endorsement or original manufacture by EZ Maker 3D.

Project brief

From question to outcome.

Technical challenge

Reduce unsprung mass without losing stiffness, fatigue awareness, attachment geometry or inspection access.

Approach

Use load-path thinking and topology studies as inputs, then rebuild the result into geometry that can be manufactured and verified.

Materials

Aluminium alloy and metal additive processes are considered as reference technologies.

Outcome

A lightweighting study that keeps manufacturability and validation visible alongside form.
